miles has been battling some sort of cold complete with runny nose and cough for weeks now. it disappeared for a short time and then reappeared in full force last week. kyle brought him in on the saturday before easter to check for an ear infection, because miles said "ears hurt." not the case, so we chalked it up to another nasty cold. however, on wednesday he had some s-t-r-a-n-g-e looking diapers. kyle deemed them "inhuman." I went in to get him on thursday morning and smelled a little somethin' somethin' when I opened his door. I asked him if he had a dirty diaper and he said "right there!" and pointed to the corner of his crib. lo and behold "right there" was a big pile of vomit. it appeared to have been there for awhile...poor little guy. I checked him for a fever - negative - and then cleaned him up and settled him on the couch. after a couple of loads of laundry, we were all set for a lazy day at home. the strange diapers continued and, unfortunately, friday morning was a virtual repeat of thursday. we were totally prepared to change all of his bedding again on saturday morning, but were pleasantly surprised to see a clean crib! we were especially happy to be able to get out and about on saturday morning.
kyle ran his first official 20k in the steven fetzer memorial race on saturday morning. the boys and I were planning to walk over to the trail to cheer daddy on. I knew we were going to have to get there in time and that if we were just a few minutes late, we would miss him. in true new-mom-to-two-boys fashion, we were running behind. henry had to eat, but I didn't have time to nurse him and knew that whisking a sleeping baby out of his warm crib and into the cool spring air without milk would not end well. so I thawed out a bottle and (insert mom of the year here) propped it while I walked/ran over to the park. oh yeah, I'm sure it was a site to behold. well...we missed him. we later found out that he was running ahead of schedule and even if we were "on time" we probably wouldn't have seen him. oh well...at least the weather was gorgeous and we could play at the new park.
we came home and played a little in the driveway while henry continued to sleep. miles loves to play with the basketball. if you notice, it's a little on the flat side. and while it isn't conducive to an actual game of basketball, it makes a world of difference in how far it can roll. this is a great trick when you don't want your toddler constantly running down the driveway and into the street.
I would love to report that we have a perfectly healthy boy on our hands. not so. we went out to dinner with beth, seth, josiah, brian, and blair and miles vomitted right onto my plate. not good for my empty tummy, but fantastic when you consider that nobody had a drop of it on themselves. yeah me. guess it's back to a bland diet for mr. miles.

it's never good when you have to resort to the BRAT diet. hope you're back digging in the DVD player soon, miles!!
way to go on the run kyle. i'm exhausted just thinking about it, much less finishing so well. does this mean you can eat more blue cheese?
I'm so impressed with Kyle! Wow!
Now I suppose Kyle will want to run the 100 mile race with Sara or the 50k with Steve????
More power to them!!
Hope Miles is feeling much better soon. Must have a "bug" of some kind.
Hugs, Great Grandma G
I just have to add that Robin handled the vomiting on her plate in the middle of a restaurant like a PRO. No screaming, gagging, or panic. Just moved the plate closer to him to catch the "flow" then quickly covered with a napkin and *voila*...crisis averted! Nice work Momma!
