one month old

our little peanut is one month old. so begins my love affair with monthly photo shoots.

reece is a sweet little baby with the most expressive eyebrows.

he loves to watch his big brothers and is doing a great job trying to hold up his head.  he loves to be swaddled and snuggles right in for a nap when you lay him on your chest.

so far he prefers to use the pacifier we got at the hospital.  I'm not a huge fan, but if it makes him happy, we aren't going to fuss with it...for now. 

we haven't really seen any actual smiles yet, but we know they are in there.

eleven months

there is just one month left before we have a ONE year old on our hands. seriously. where did the time go? buggy is changing so very fast. he has a bubbly personality and is rarely without his signature scrunched-nose-toothy grin.

he has plenty to say and we are loving hearing his deep voice (in the "I'm a baby" sort of way). here's an updated vocabulary list:

he's a little love bug this one. he lays his head on your shoulder and says "ahh" right after laying a big ol' smoochie on your face. it melts my heart every single time.

thanks to a fun little friday night outing to the emergency room and a follow up "I'm pretty sure he still has an ear infection" doctor's appointment, we have some stats to report this month as well. henry bug is weighing in just shy of 20 pounds - 19 lbs. 9 oz. height unknown, but based on the high-water pants he's sporting these days, I'd guess he's still in the 90th %ile.

momma's intuition was right too - we definitely needed a new antibiotic


henry is much like miles in the sense that he's a great sleeper, human garbage disposal, loves to read and talk, and has a smile on his face at all times. but unlike his big brother, henry is a daredevil. he flies up a flight of stairs in a heartbeat, scales the little picnic table like a monkey, and thinks momma saying "I'm gonna get you" as he crawls away at lightening speed is the funniest thing. ever. and have I mentioned that he's fallen into the tub (sans water) more than once. he's a busy little bug for sure. 

his birthday will be bittersweet. I look at him and I'm a little sad that the time has rushed by too quickly. I'm sad that he's already starting to laugh when he gets away from me. BUT...I'm so proud of him. he's a sweet baby who LOVES to learn new things. he adores his big brother and thinks daddy is hysterical. we love every ounce of our little buggy and on january 26th we will celebrate this perfect addition to our family. stay tuned for party details!

the tenth month

technically this is henry's eleventh month, but that just confuses me when I'm actually posting his ten month pictures. so we'll just go with it, right? yes, I realize that he is nearly eleven months old, but I'm officially WAY behind on blogging and, to be honest, these pics weren't taken that long ago. it's not my proudest mommy moment, but oh well. henry bug is a busy bug. b-u-s-y. he's an absolute sweetheart and will melt your heart as soon as you hear him say "hi!"

a few weeks ago he decided that crawling up the stairs was easy peasy and has taken quite a liking to climbing on anything. in particular, the little picnic table. it's hard to already be saying "no" to the little guy, especially when he just scrunches up his nose and laughs at you!

he's taken quite an interest in talking these days. I remember that miles was talking a little at this age too, but for some reason I thought that henry would let miles do the talking for him. not so. he has LOTS to say and we are thrilled to hear him learn new words or watch him bust out another new sign. the favorite words: daddy, momma, hi, oh-oh, papa, nana, puppa (puppy), ah-duh (all done), and my personal fave - uh dat? (what's that?). oh and he's signing daddy, cookie, more, and all done. genius - I know.

during our latest trip to the ER for an ear infection (on friday night no less), henry weighed in at a "whopping" 19.75 pounds...fully dressed. miles weighed more than that two months earlier! he's still our little peanut. a brave and sometimes bucky little man. his spunky spirit and darling personality are the perfect combination.

nine months old...already?

you know what it's like when you have every intention of getting something done...you've planned every last detail and can practically swear that it actually happened? except that it didn't, so there went all of your best laid plans. poor henry. these monthly photo shoots that used to occur on the precise day that miles turned that new month have somehow morphed into this-picture-of-henry-was-taken-sometime-between-nine-and-ten-months-old. but hey, we did it and we got them taken outside. just as I had planned, of course. it was just shy of snowing out, so we weren't out for long. henry couldn't have cared less about the chill in the air, because this boy is (almost) always happy. he is a spunky, quick-moving, lively, cuddly, and chatty little guy. he loves his brother, napping, chewing on everything, drooling, nabbing the remote, petting his puppies, singing, spitting (this one's fun), reading books and turning the pages, watching signing time (or whatever miles is watching), and giving hugs.

he's figured out how to stand up to anything and everything...and he's fearless.

henry is still somewhat of a peanut - a very long and skinny one. this was solidified by his latest stats:

weight  = 18 lbs. 1 oz. (12th %ile)

height = 29 3/4" (87th %ile)

the doctor says he's healthy and meeting/exceeding all major milestones, so we'll just keep monitoring his weight (he's gone from the 89th %ile at birth down to the 12th!). and contrary to his size, he LOVES to eat. he's eating three solid meals a day and has even begun to munch on quite a few snacks - baby mum-mums, puffs, cheerios, graham crackers, cheese, cooked veggies, diced fruit - he loves it all...even the occasional stick. why not?

we are in love with his crazy personality and are so thankful that we were blessed with yet another amazing son. we are definitely smitten with this little peanut.

eight months old

staying true to my newfound routine of taking these a little late and posting them even later...here is the latest installment of monthly pictures. I decided to take advantage of the green grass one last time this year and we thought that the john deere stuff was only appropriate given the fact that grandpa and uncle clayt are working hard in the fields in the BIG tractors.

henry is already eight months old. I can't believe it either. he continues to be a very content and happy baby. his biggest news is that he's now mobile. he gets up and rocks on all fours, but prefers his own unique army crawl method. it gets him where he wants to go...quickly. he is finally getting over two back-to-back bouts of an ear infection. he took it in stride and tried so hard to not let us know how much it hurt. he's such a good baby.

he is eating two meals of solid foods a day and we are probably going to need to add in lunch soon. this boy loves his food! he's dabbling in finger foods, most recently trying cheese, puffs, and bananas. (yes please!) we've even had good luck with water in a sippy cup. he's babbling quite a bit and his vocab now includes ma-ma-ma, da-da-da, ot-ot-ot, n-ga-n-ga-n-ga, ba-ba-ba...the usual.

we still can't believe how tall and skinny he is; he's still in size 2 diapers and 6 month carters clothes. maybe the addition of lunch will take care of that. (he's sporting some 12-18 month overalls in these pictures. a might bit big if you ask me!).

mostly, we are amazed that he has been here for 2/3 of a year. I am always asking him, "what did you do with my tiny baby??" - to which he responds, "a-ba-ba-ba." typical.  

seven months = seven teeth

to say that henry is changing every day would be an understatement. it's more like every moment. his personality has blossomed these last few weeks. he is happy-go-lucky and this boy loves to smile. if you scroll back through the pictures from his first few months, you might not recognize him as the same baby in these pictures.

and speaking of changing...you might remember from the six month stats that they were a bit concerned with his growth...or lack thereof. well we returned for a weight check (and an ear infection...boo.) and (drum roll please) he has gained a pound!  henry now weighs 16 lbs 8 oz (the 18th %ile) and is 28 1/2 inches tall (the 88th %ile). I guess the introduction to solid foods has paid off. phew. our little henry chews on everything. did I say everything? oh yeah, I do mean ev-ery-thing. and the drool. wow. it is nothing to go through a half dozen little bibs in one day. and by "go through" I mean soaked to the bone and usually his shirt underneath too. apparently all of the chewing and drooling have paid off though, because as of his seven month birthday he has seven teeth! check it out:

this little bug is also a bit of a comedian. he makes silly faces and talks in his deep loud voice "ahhhhhh" - adorable. he keeps us laughing and seems to know that what he's doing is funny. a regular bob hope.

but mostly he is sweet. he gives great slobbery kisses, cuddles into the crook of your neck, and has made our lives so much more complete. he is innocent and snuggly. his bright blue wide-eyes are captivating and his soft toes and fuzzy hair are heavenly. we love our little henry bug.
