just the bug
kyle and I don't often get time to sit around and play with just henry. I think the minimal number of opportunities he gets with both kyle and I at the same time is the only negative when it comes to being a second child. the positives - having a built in best buddy, always being entertained, learning "big boy" tricks - far outweigh this little blip. the other night we were able to enjoy all of henry's antics after miles was tucked in for the night. just thought I would share some of the funny little expressions he gave us. enjoy.

three months old
henry turned three months old today! he has transformed into the most pleasant and smiley little baby. he has begun to follow somewhat of a schedule. he wakes in the morning around 6 or 7am, eats, and then goes back to sleep until around 8am. he's awake for 1-2 hours at a time and will take a good morning and afternoon nap (approx. 1-2 hours long). he will usually squeeze a little cat nap in in the evening too. he goes to sleep around 7:30/8 pm and wakes up only once at night to eat quick. we are both back in bed within 30 minutes or so. unless, of course, I fall asleep in the rocking chair. in which case it's anywhere between 1-2 hours. not good for mommy's neck! he's eating 4-5 oz five times a day plus the night-time feeding. bringing our grand total to somewhere between 24 and 30 ounces per day. this would explain his cute little mini-rolls on his legs and his adorable little double chin! he's in 3-6 month clothing, but can stretch into 6-9 month sleepers (we have another LONG baby here!). we are happy to report that the tummy aches that plagued the first 8-10 weeks are a thing of the past. it is comforting to me to know that he's no longer in pain! he has fallen in love with his fists. it's become nearly impossible to talk him out of chewing on them. teeth? it's a possibility. I started back to work just a few days before henry turned 3 months old. I'm glad it's just part time and even more glad that summer break is mere weeks away! I can't wait to spend it with this happy-go-lucky little guy!

let's try the bumbo...
...or maybe not.
henry, while incredibly strong during tummy time, was not all about the bumbo. he lasted only about thirty seconds before declaring that he was finished.

I got it
as I sit and watch our baby boys grow and learn new things so quickly, I find myself begging time to stand still. miles is turning into a little boy right before our eyes and I keep asking henry what he did with my newborn. and although I would love to freeze them at this stage, I find so much joy in watching them discover the world around them. here are the latest milestones in our house.
1. miles is giving up the sippy cup in exchange for a big boy cup. this is a bit of a messy transition, but he's so proud of himself and I find comfort in knowing that he's consuming more than two swallows of milk each meal. I think we might have the only non-milk-guzzling child in the history of mankind.

1. henry is now batting at toys! it is so fun to see him reach up with his jerky hand motions. it is still a bit hit-and-miss...but we're getting there. he is kicking like a mad man. I think that his feet help propel his arms up up and away! he's also juuuuust starting to giggle a little bit. I haven't really caught it on tape, but I did manage to get a little giggle after his bath. I've included a little video. enjoy.

these last few pictures are just because. because I think they are cute.

baptism
henry was baptized on sunday, april 18th. we were fortunate to have so many family members with us at the church that day. henry wore the same outfit that both miles and josiah wore for their baptisms. marc and jen are henry's godparents - he is blessed to have such wonderful people in his life! the service was perfect and our little bundle managed to make it through the entire thing without a peep. I seriously thought we were done-for when marc held him over the water (sound asleep) and they sprinkled it on his head. he didn't blink. then one of the pastors came over, took him out into the congregation, and handed him to a very nervous looking gentleman [they do this as a symbol to show that henry is now a member of the church]. as he was carrying henry back to the front of the church the pastor gave me the "eye" as if to say don't let him come up the stairs...get down here STAT! henry bug slept through it all. after the service we went to my mom and dad's for a delicious cook out complete with cheeseburgers, pasta salad, beans, and fruit salad. hmmm...summer!

whew...
...what a busy family-filled weekend! we got things started on saturday with a walk to the toy store. as many of you know, we are almost able to see toys r us from our front yard. I foresee this becoming a problem. kyle walked over there with miles last week and he fell in love (miles that is). we went back on saturday to do a little exchanging at babies r us. we surprisingly made it out of there with only a couple of new snack cups (thank you easter bunny nana), new pacifiers for henry, and a mommy hook for me. kyle thinks it's a ridiculous purchase. I love it. we then trekked back home for the car and made our way over to nana and papa's for nap time. I did a few errands while the boys snoozed and then it was off to congratulate my uncle steve on his retirement from IBM. it came a little sooner than he had planned...but that's how IBM rolls. I haven't one picture of my uncle...but here are some of the boys enjoying steve and jeanie's lovely backyard.
miles and olivia trying out josh's washer game.
somehow I don't think this is how it was intended to be played.
getting a little practice standing up

somehow I don't think this is how it was intended to be played.

whenever all of us becker siblings are in town, we try to take advantage and hang out. after the party we went back to my parent's house and played some games. miles decided that playing in nykki's sling was fantastic! especially since he has control of the remote.
(thanks for the pjs, easter bunny)
our little henry is becoming quite the drooler. he has discovered both fists and tries desperately to chew them off. occasionally he shoves them in too far. gag. miles thinks it's fun to imitate him.miles adores his auntie nykki. it doesn't hurt that she has the best set up for movie watching ever!
enjoying a little cedarmont kids video
(if you ever want to hear kyle complain...ask him about these!)
"I saw that one!"
and for some reason, miles can sit and watch endless dvds with nykki and somehow escape the whaps from her wild and crazy left arm. however, this time she did manage to snag him...

(if you ever want to hear kyle complain...ask him about these!)
insert mommy brag: I will say that miles is getting to be quite the little smarty pants. his latest obsession is with finding things that are the same. last week I gave him two crackers. one was broken in half. he took a close look at them, bit off part of the whole one, and declared, "SAME!" when he sits and watches movies he always asks to, "hold cover." then he studies it and when he notices the part of the movie that is shown in a small picture on the case he says, "I saw that one." yeah...you read that right...FOUR word sentences. I knew he'd be a talker [click here].
