where for art thou spring?

what happened to spring?? it was here...we saw it with our own eyes and felt the warmth....and then it was gone. if this is some sort of april fools joke, I would like to say that it's not funny. seriously. enough with the need to state the windchill values on the weather each morning. these pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago. miles went outside with daddy to help him prune the bushes.

stuck on you

after miles decided that his favorite room in the house is the kitchen, we decided to get him something to play with while hanging out in there. something OTHER than the dog toys and dishes. [see below]
that would be the dogs' bell they ring to go outside
the dogs' basket full of goodies
jackpot!
here you go tinker
let me try one...
behold the leap frog fridge magnet sets! what a magnificent creation. he is completely entertained by simply ripping them off and chewing on them.
he seems to have a special place in his heart for the melissa & doug wooden letters we picked up on our trip to lark toys a couple of months ago.
the baby legs fell down...instant legwarmers...where is my xanadu tape?
what's this? (notice the wooden magnet in his mouth)
SWEET!! the new fridge farm set is a big hit too!

ten months old

we have officially hit the crazy crawler baby stage! this little guy is so full of energy! he is constantly on the move and huffing and puffing around the house. he's decided that splashing in the dogs' water is great and he can get there in a flash! poor dogs spend most of their day whining for me to take their dishes down off the counter. (the nerve) miles is standing up to anything & everything and just starting to figure out that he can slide his feet to move instead of sit down, crawl, and stand back up. I'm sure he'll be "cruising" the furniture in no time. he's a great eater and will gobble up any type of table food. I'm still making some baby food simply because it's easy and I know how much he's eating. he's drinking all his daytime milk from a sippy cup and nurses only right away in the morning and right before bed. we're hoping to be totally on a sippy cup at a year. he has recently discovered that squealing at the top of your lungs can be quite entertaining and you will receive immediate attention when you do so. miles' love for all things electronic continues. he's especially fond of remotes and phones - cell phones, regular phones, he doesn't discriminate. he works so hard when he's awake that he sleeps like a log. he takes 1 1/2-2 hour naps in the morning and afternoon and he's also sleeping from 7:30pm - 6:30am...he is his father's son! I figured that since he loves to sleep and LOVES to read, we would capture some shots with his books and night-night garb. ENJOY!
the hungry little caterpillar
squealing 101
eight teeth and STILL teething!
what did you say daddy?
squishy cheeksI LOVE to read!
check out the chompers!
bribing him to sit still
FINALLY got a good one!
I'm outta here!

lions and tigers and bears...oh my!

last weekend we ventured to the twin cities to visit marc and jen. kyle had tickets to see the hopefuls and the honeydogs at first avenue on friday night. as much as I do love the honeydogs (take a listen here), I had to pass on the show given the fact that they didn't even go on stage until after 11pm. too late for this mama!! the funniest part of the weekend came after we all got up on saturday morning and I saw the t-shirts that the guys bought at the show. they have purchased american apparel shirts before, so kyle knew he wanted a large. he bought a blue one and marc, being a tad bit bigger than kyle, went for the xl in black. the kicker?? kyle's blue shirt was a woman's large! the brainiac girl working the t-shirt stand failed to point out that the black shirts were mens and blue were womens - nor were there any signs indicating such. marc had confirmed his choice of size when kyle quickly held his up and he saw it would be too small for him. therefore marc is now the proud owner of a hopefuls dress. there goes $30 down the dumper.

on to our fun weekend...saturday was GORGEOUS so we bit the bullet and decided to fight the crowd at st. paul's como park zoo & conservatory. while it was too cold for the animals to be in the outdoor exhibits, we were able to see them close up in their somewhat tiny off-season homes. miles loved it! he pointed at everything and gave out an approving "oooh!"

tropical encounters exhibit...it was so nice & warm in there! (p.s. that's a sloth)

zebras and giraffes - not so fresh in there

ooh fish!

pictures from the conservatory...a taste of summer :)

the rest of the weekend was filled with yummy food from raising cane's, an obligatory stop at IKEA for some baby essentials, and lounge time at the becker's! we brought tinker & tessie with to play with cousin doggie, roxy. everyone enjoyed the long walk on sunday and marc provided t & t with a much needed bath. we had a great time and send a special thank-you out to marc & jen for hosting us...we'll definitely be back again soon!!

playing wii and eating in the bumbo

a clean puppy and slobbery kisses for daddy

miles is good at sharing!
